21 July 1742 - 6th £50 Prize Reading He was imported into Virginia by Secretary John Carter in 1742, where he sired a number of broodmares, but the only one of consequence was Byrd's Dabster Mare, 3rd dam of Page's Tippoo Saib, the sire of Mary Grey, dam of 1) the highly successful stallion [Jackson's] Pacolet, many of whose daughters bred on. [Jackson's] Pacolet's best son was the great Monsieur Tonson, which, after losing his first start, was undefeated for the remainder of his career, winning his other 11 races; he became Leading Sire in America in 1834; and of 2) Wilkes' Wonder, sire of Bet Bosley, the 5th dam of high class winners Mollie McCarty, Belle, Lord Murphy (1879 Kentucky Derby), Sally Black and Philip S; 4th dam of Black Maria, winner of Jockey Club Purses at Washington and Charleston in 1803; and 5th dam of Lady Lightfoot, one of the greatest racemares of the 19th century , winner of 30 to 40 races, many in the highest class, and dam of top class racemare Black Maria
