The fourth earliest mare in the lineage of American Family A82 "This mare has not the requisite number of crosses to constitute a thoroughbred, but she was one of the most celebrated broodmares in America." [ASB ii:3] "[The]dam of [Monsieur] Tonson was a mare of great beauty and showed good blood in all her points, and as a good brood mare may surely rank with the best in the United States" [J.S. Skinner, American Turf Register September 1832] She was said to be distinguished by her accomplishments on the turf Dam of the great racehorse Monsieur Tonson, top class winner of 11 of his 12 career starts, after losing his first start remaining undefeated for the remainder of his career, and achieved a good measure of success as a stallion, both of sons and daughters, becoming Leading Sire in America in 1834; and of the notable racehorses Sir Henry Tonson and Sir Richard Tonson Died 28 February 1831
