| Foundation Mare Family 45 Her supposed dam is the subject of much confusion, Harlot being variously attributed in different historical sources as a daughter of Young Cade, of Snap, of Wynn's Arabian, and of Marske. From this total lack of unanimity it is clear that the dam of Harlot is unidentifiable. Family 45 is a minor family which still (barely) clings on today only in Russia, almost 250 years after Harlot's Dam birth. The family has produced a few Eastern European classic winners, but its only classic winner in a major racing country is Barcarolle (1838 1000 Guineas) Dam of Maid of Ely (by Tandem) through which the maternal line of the family continues Dam of Harlot (winner of 14 races including 1788 King's Plate Lichfield); grandam of Fieldfare (1802 King's Plate Nottingham); and 3rd dam of Loiterer (1810 Ascot Gold Cup) | |
