| The equal fourth earliest mare in the lineage of Family 6 Dam of an unnamed daughter by the Paget Arabian from which branches 6-b, 6-c, 6-d, 6-e and 6-f of the family descend mtDNA evidence has shown that her supposed sister Cream Cheeks (from which branch 6-a descends) is not maternally related to Betty Percival, so, unless Charming Jenny was the same horse as Wyvill's Roan Mare and also Betty Percival was not out of Charming Jenny, which is possible but unlikely, Cream Cheeks cannot be a descendant of Old Bald Peg, Family 6 Foundation Mare. Her descendants have a different haplotype from any horse so far DNA tested. The DNA evidence is supported by the stud book of Cuthbert Routh which says Cream Cheeks is out of "a famous roan mare of Sr. [Sir] Mar. [Marmaduke] Wyvill's". Routh and Wyvill's studs were less than 10 miles apart so Routh's pedigree is likely to be correct | |
