| Bred by Englebert Leedes and subsequently purchased by Mr. Holloway of Surrey, from whom Queen Anne purchased him in 1705 for £1,000 and gave him to her consort, Prince George of Denmark Apparently a high class racehorse but no record of any of his races survives Sire of the good class racehorses Ashridge Ball, Quiet and Hazard; of an unnamed mare out of the Moonah Barb Mare which proliferates Family 21 and is 3rd dam of 1) great American matriarch Selima, dam of a) successful broodmare sire [Brent's] Ariel; of b) important broodmare sire [Wilkin's] Spadille; of c) high class racehorse [Lightfoot's] Partner, the sire of the very successful stallion Lee's Mark Anthony; and d) ancestress of the outstanding racehorse Foxhall and outstanding racehorse and sire Hanover; 3rd dam of 2) top class racehorse Mirza (undefeated in 13 starts, 1758 Jockey Club Plate); and of 3) Bosphorus (winner of 7 King's Plates) Half brother to successful stallion Jigg, himself the sire of successful stallion [Croft's] Partner and a progenitor of the Byerley Turk line | |
