| Foundation Mare Family 53 Dam of Almanzor (1720 King's Plate Newmarket); of [Graham's] Champion (1713 King's Plate York and sire of 3rd dam of 8 times Champion Sire [King] Herod); of Sister to Champion, dam of Whitelips (1723 King's Plate [mares] Hambleton); of Aleppo, sire of Scrutineer (1738 King's Plate Nottingham, York) and the good class racehorse Hobgoblin, sire of Phantom (1743 King's Plates York, Lincoln): Trimmer (1749 King's Plate Lichfield, 1750 King's Plates Canterbury, Newmarket); Shakespeare (1751 King's Plates Guildford, Lincoln and successful sire), and of a number of mares which bred on; and of the moderately successful sire Terror Despite the flurry of good class racehorses in the first few years of the family, it is extremely short-lived, effectively becoming extinct by the end of the 1710s, as a consequence of virtually all the successful family members being male | |
