| The fourth earliest mare in the lineage of Family 1, to which approximately 15% of the world's current thoroughbreds belong, all members of that family descending through her Dam of an unnamed daughter by Darley Arabian through which the maternal line of the family continues, and of an unnamed mare by Newcastle Turk which establishes a line of the family which survives until the 1830s Dam of Grey Ramsden, winning racehorse in 1710 and 1712; grandam of [Godolphin] Whitefoot, good class racehorse and sire of Molotto (1742 King's Plate Nottingham, 1743 King's Plate Newmarket) and of Tortoise (1743 King's Plate Nottingham, 1744 King's Plate Newmarket); 3rd dam of top class racehorse Merry Andrew, winner of 4 King's Plates in England and Ireland between 1736 and 1741; 4th dam of the exceptional sire Snap, Champion Sire 1767, 1768, 1769 and 1771, and sire of many significant mares; of Crab (1753 Jockey Club Plate); and of Spectator (1756 Jockey Club Plate) | |
